Dr. Aman Usmani has over 40 years of experience in nuclear power plant design, analysis and management. He worked in the area of stress analysis, seismic design, feeder and piping design, reactor, fuel handling and fuel channel engineering, CANDU plant design development and engineering services to domestic and overseas CANDU clients. At AECL, AMEC FW and Kinectrics, Dr. Usmani has held various engineering and management positions of increasing responsibilities and has maintained a high degree of technical focus and remains thoroughly conversant with the process mechanical component design and analysis, seismic engineering, and structural integrity assessment area of nuclear technology. He has been qualified as SQUG Seismic Capability Engineer, participated in several seismic walkdowns and was the project manager and Technical Lead for the seismic margin assessment of Bruce Units 1&2. Dr. Usmani has also performed seismic walkdown and assessment of U.S. plants at Brunswick, North Carolina and ANO, Arkansas plants. He is past Manager, Stress Analysis, Seismic Engineering and currently Principal Consultant Nuclear Equipment, Seismic Engineering and Structural Mechanics at Kinectrics. Aman Usmani is providing oversight related to design analysis and registration and reviews of feeders, fuel channel and reactor design documents for the Darlington Retube and Feeder Replacement (RFR) and Bruce Major Component Replacement (MCR) projects. Aman Usmani was AECL’s design site representative on the installation of fuel channels, feeders, instrumentation tubing and feeder cabinet during Darlington NPP construction. Dr. Usmani has been past chair (2013-2019) of the CSA N289 Technical committee on seismic design and past chair (2007 -2021)of the technical sub-committee CSA N289.4 on testing procedures for seismic qualification of NPPs and past member (2007-2021) of CSA sub-committees N289.3 on design procedures for seismic qualification of NPP and N289.1 on General Requirements for seismic design and qualification of CANDU NPP.
