Hamid Sadegh-Azar is the Head of the Institute of Structural Analysis and Dynamics at the University of Kaiserslautern. He graduated as structural engineer (M.Sc.) from Tehran University and received his Ph.D. with distinction from RWTH Aachen University of Technology in the field of earthquake engineering in 2002. He has been the head of the department of “Special Projects, Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics” of HOCHTIEF, a large internationally operating construction and consulting company. He has been involved in the design, redesign, assessment, strengthening and improvement of almost all German and many international nuclear facilities. He is a member of various German, European and international nuclear related code committees and the author of numerous publications. His research work in the fields of earthquake engineering and structural dynamics is honored by many academic awards and led to various patents. The Institute of Structural Analysis and Dynamics is focused on research and teaching in the fields of earthquake engineering, structural dynamics and smart and innovative materials and structures.
